I was really looking forward to seeing this film. I love historical films & books & had read up on the history of Katherine.
The film was a huge disappointment, it was unstructured, the story jumped all over the place with very little explanation of how things happened, no story of how constintine ended up a great leader, no story line of the mad emperors love or affection for Katherine that is so important historically.
It was just a poor, messy, weird attempt at a film ? Odd casting (Peter o'tool) a legend must of wondered what he had done to be burdened with this as his last film.
awful effects, sound & a bloody awful soundtrack running the whole way through the film, only stopping about twice completely detracting from the dialect (which is also all over the place, you have English, Greek, Latin, several bad European languages all thrown in).
I would really love to see this story told properly & directed much better.
