The Heat (I) (2013)

You can't be serious!
6 July 2015
Let me begin this review by saying that I like Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Both are talented actresses and McCarthy can be extremely funny. Not here. I had a movie night with my parental figure and he picked this film out. For me, I thought it'd be harmless fun. A silly buddy cop movie, how can you go wrong?

Firstly, the drug bust scene was incredibly forced. If you look at a good movie like 21 Jump Street, the drug bust sequence had tension and humor where we really cared about the characters. Secondly, Melissa McCarthy is so obnoxious in this movie that I didn't want to see anymore of her on the screen. I'd rather hear the sound of a cat scratching on a chalkboard for 2 hours straight than to sit through this again. Finally, The laughs were absent, I didn't laugh once throughout this piece of garbage. Nothing redeemable, nothing interesting, nothing happening, nothing funny.

The whole movie is a mess and the story is absurd. I don't mind buddy cop pictures or mindless popcorn flicks but this is just terrible. This was one of the most frustrating movies I've ever seen. I'm surprised this got green-lit. Did anyone read the script before production began?! Do yourself favor and avoid this mess of a film. Save yourself the grief, time, and money because it's NOT worth it!
