Review of Red Cap

Red Cap (2003–2004)
5/10
LAZY second season writing KILLED the series.

Warning: Spoilers
This series suffers from a common TV series ailment.....a good first season and a second season full of repeated concepts and LAZY writing. We all know that writers eventually run out of quality NEW ideas for episodes...but one hopes that at least they should be able to manage 12 episodes before needing to resort to re-using ideas and merely switching personnel. Episode 4 of the second season ends with the main female lead...basically a 120 Lb investigator, knocking out with a single punch the squad enforcer....a healthy and tough 25 year old male....and this after taking a pretty good shot from him. LAZY WRITING is the only reason for this. Frankly I think a 10 year old student could have come up with a more plausible scenario to end the episode successfully but there you go....once they have the audience believing the first transparent incident the writers escalate and make nearly ANYTHING possible. 1st season....entertaining but very obviously lazy writing killed off the show at season 2...and rightly so.....do the job correctly or pay the price. I would NOT waste my time watching this series a second time and for me THAT is my strongest criticism.
