"La chambre" or "The Room" is a 1972 10.5 minute short film written and directed by Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman. She and this movie rose to prominence recently again when the filmmaker committed suicide a couple days ago. In the wake of these events, I am a bit sad I cannot give this film a more favorable rating and review, but it just wasn't an interesting watch. We see a room, at least the title is telling the truth and that's basically it. A woman is sitting on the bed there and it's Akerman herself. So, is she watching us or are we watching her? Anyway, given the material, this may have been a decent watch at 3 minutes max, not a second longer. I cannot recommend it. Thumbs down, but I may be biased as I have never been big on experimental films. Not recommended.
