The Roaring 20's: Two a Day (1961)
Season 1, Episode 15
Chorus little drama
26 October 2015
Not a charmless episode this story taking place in a theatre, and telling the rivalry between two female variety and burlesque stars. Remember ALL ABOUT EVE and HOUDINI THE GREAT MAGICIAN... It could have been a movie scheme, of course. And the twenties atmosphere is terrific here, musical and whatever else. Backstage and onstage suspense and characters play too. Good actors directing, but it is Robert Altman who is in the director's chair, no? I don't know the players but all their performances are more than OK. But do not watch it as a crime flick. Definitely not; by the way this series was about twenties, and that means of course gangsters, as was story of America for this era, BUT NOT ONLY gangsters topics.
