The Walking Dead: Thank You (2015)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode reiterated something that every one of our survivors should know by now: if you are not prepared to adapt to the world you're in, you better prepare to die.

All of our survivors had to adapt in this week's episode, resulting in them making serious sacrifices in order to avoid death.

Michonne seemed to have temporarily forgotten that adaptation is key to survival. She made promises she should've known she couldn't keep: she promised the Alexandrian who got bit and the girl who was limping from a fall earlier in the episode that they'd make it home. She definitively declared: "No-one is leaving anyone behind".

But this statement didn't seem to serve the purpose of reassuring the lesser members of the group, it rather served to challenge what Heath (the black guy with glasses) said: "If we go, we go together...We don't leave people behind. Not us."

This would've come as a direct insult to Michonne, perhaps provoking her to mislead the others and promise the bitten survivor: "You're going home". Michonne proceeded to absolutely annihilate Heath as she explained to him that he hasn't got a clue what he's talking about. He doesn't know what Rick or any of our survivors have been through, and he doesn't know what it's like to be covered in so much blood that he doesn't know whose it is...but he does know what that's like by the end of the episode when he looks at his reflection in the water and sees his face smeared with blood. Only now, after having adapted and allowing the weakened members of the group to be sacrificed, can Heath survive.

Glenn made the ultimate sacrifice: he (seems to have) lost his life. He could've and should've done what his gut told him to last season. He should've killed Nick when he had the chance. But instead he gave him a second chance. He tried to rehabilitate him; Glenn learnt the hard way that he who is once a coward will always be a coward.

Rick made his sacrifice when he resisted the urge to sprint back to Alexandria to ensure the safety of his children. He fulfilled his duty and focused on the task at hand, regardless of how desperately he wanted to forget about the walkers and get home. This sacrifice was further amplified when he saw that the Wolves had baby food. He knew that meant they had been to Alexandria, but he stayed strong and stuck to the plan.

Daryl also made a sacrifice similar to Rick. He disobeyed Rick's order earlier on but when suspecting Rick was in danger, he doubled back and resisted his urge to get back to Alexandria.

It's also worth mentioning that the cinematography in this episode was stunning, with some very clever and impressive shots we aren't used to seeing.

This was yet another compelling episode which didn't falter in quality in the slightest. I can now positively state that this has been the strongest and most consistent start to a season of the Walking Dead so far. The rest of season six is looking incredibly promising.

Finally, I just want to add that if they come up with some BS excuse as to how Glenn somehow made it out of there alive I will be incredibly disappointed. Although I will admit when watching the scene it didn't look like it was actually Glenn being torn apart, it looked like it was the Nick who had fallen on top of him. But even if that is the case, Glenn was surrounded by hundreds of walkers, on the floor, with the full weight of Nick and those walkers on top of him, with no bullets. So, yeah: he'd better be dead, for realism's sake.

"You don't know."
