Why HIMYM, why?
26 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I must make one thing perfectly clear: I am not a HIMYM advocate. There are parts I enjoy and parts that I cannot stand. Aside from one or two fantastic episodes since the second season, HIMYM seems to be dragging along with so little energy or wit. So, when I saw the surprisingly low IMDb rating for this episode, I feared the worst. Truth be told, the episode isn't terrible. Neither is it anything special.

Why does HIMYM continue to delay the story of The Mother? Most of the events do not have any significance whatsoever to the mother, and Ted meeting her. This episode is a perfect example of an episode that needs not be there, especially considering how much of this show has not been about the Mother.

A lot of the dialogue is dry, and a lot of the performances are anything but ordinary. Neil Patrick Harris (NPH) does manage to find some charisma that is missing from the rest of the cast as he continuously delivers wonderful performances. This episode is no exception for NPH

The story with the bees is not funny, nor is the story with Marshall's new and FAR more annoying boss, Cootes. Lily's dad is now becoming extremely irritating and the show seems to not be able to find anything engaging. Such a pity seeing as how this season has produced two excellent episodes in "Ducky Tie" and "Symphony of Illumination" - two episodes that wonderfully combined the dramatic and the comedic.

HIMYM simply lingers on, almost as though it has no purpose to exist.
