This episode brought me something I didn't expect from Walking Dead; character development that's actually interesting. This isn't just a development episode, either. It has more than a fair share of action. Let's break it down.

The episode opens up focusing on Carol and planning the assault on the Saviors. Carol's role with regards to the community is summed up in a neat way, and the proposed assault provides good interpersonal conflict. Then the plan starts to be set in motion making way for a great dark Rick moment and an interesting revelation from Glenn that leads to an amazing performance moment from Steven Yeun later in the episode. Then the siege begins. It's tension filled, action-packed, and keeps you guessing until the end.

I don't think this is the Savior's actual base. It's very different in the comics, and the end suggests that at the very least there's more going on here than there first appeared to be. The episode also has a very chilling little moment of foreshadowing that is sickening to those who know what will eventually happen.

This was a pretty great episode. It sets things up for the future but also has a lot of things that are good in their own right.
