Iconic Crusty Retired Detective Rides Again

Warning: Spoilers
You are going to like the new reality cop show Killing Fields. Do I have your attention with an arrogant throw down like that first sentence? Well, I actually do think you will like this show simply because there is a lot to like.

First, true justice for victims doesn't always come easy and when it's about twenty years on and the police are truly still trying, well, then I'm interested as to why. The first season of Killing Fields is about just such a case. Second, all the principals are likable to the point you really feel for them, rooting for their success. Third, the producers have logically laid out the show with a proper amount of human interest sides about the principals who have REAL stamped all over themselves. It's as compelling as the crime story. And the pace of the story works without too much of that formulaic dreck so many crime shows use.

If I had one reason you should watch Killing Fields it would be retired/re-activated detective Rodie Sanchez. This guy has charisma dripping off of him. His humanity really comes through; his many failings, his never give up attitude, and his survivor mentality combine to make him a guy you want to watch. And, watch is what I want to do, but it seems Discovery network might not agree? Maybe the ratings weren't good? It won't be the first time stupid shows trumped better ones. After six episodes in season one there is no information on Discovery's site if and when the show will return. Perhaps this, in large par is due because there is nothing monumental against the enigmatic prime suspect, or anyone else. An indictment for this best suspect isn't going to happen it appears as he has ;lawyered up. In that shield there is really little that can be done without some real irrefutable evidence that may never come Like Rodie Sanchez this case is under my skin ( it only took six solid episodes) and I want more. Highly recommended even if the resolution is not obtained because Killing Fields is an interesting and entertaining show about real slow crime work which dedicated detectives who truly want justice even if it takes 20 years.
