Some aspects of the plot are more or less from the previous series, where the main actor can not trust an institution they work for. I like the spin off elements, though some parts could be better.
I know a lot of people especially my girlfriend want Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer) back, but with how "24: Live Another Day" ended there was no realistic way to have Jack return to the states and lead and lead a normal life, maybe he'll come in a cameo or something but I seriously doubt that. Corey Hawkins(Eric Carter) delivers a great character who has his own unique back story that is yet to be told, Eric clearly has unspoken demons and comes from what seems to be a dysfunctional family (which everybody does).
As with all 24 previous seasons, each character has a lot to gain and lose, a vantage point. Anyone who hates this should remember that it isn't Jacks show, its a show that tackles Terrorism on the domestic and global theater; Pierce Brosnan was a great Bond, Daniel Craig didn't have to replace him but showed a different James Bond.
