Love actually

Red Nose Day Actually could easily been Smug Actually in this ten minute sequel to Love Actually. It is from the original writer Richard Curtis, one of the founders of Comic Relief.

This special is set 14 years after the original movie and most of the original cast are reunited. Glaring absences include Alan Rickman sadly died in 2016 and this meant Emma Thompson declined to appear who played his wife. It is when Rowan Atkinson reprises an element from the original film that you realise Rickman's loss from this special.

Hugh Grant returns as the Prime Minister, not realising he is too old to dance to Drake tunes but still believes in the power of love. Billy Mack gives publicity to his latest charity single as his autobiography is due out. Colin Firth still tries to grapple with Portugues. Liam Neeson's particular set of skills is needed by his son who is about to get engaged. Keira Knightley gets an invitation to walk with the dead.

Curtis should be applauded for giving an audience a little treat and by reuniting his cast of now international stars.
