A Footnote to Hoffmann
11 May 2017
In one of the biggest Mickey Mouse classics, a young inexperienced apprentice of a powerful wizard tries to use magic to get through his chores.

There is not much to this film. It is short, the stage is fairly sparse. The costumes are okay. But, of course, the most memorable version is with Mickey Mouse, and had already been made by this time, so Powell probably did not sway too many opinions.

This short appear on the "Tales of Hoffmann" DVD, which is exactly where it belongs, seeing as it could very well have fit in as part of the stories with its similar themes and look. Anyway, worth a peek, but really just a footnote.
