A critic's review an an actor's film about a critic

Warning: Spoilers
"Howard Cantour.com" (what's with the space?) is an American 12-minute live action short film from 2012, so this one has its 5th anniversary this year. The director is Shia Labeaouf and even if the cast includes 1 or 2 actors that you maybe have come across in other prestigious projects already, I dare say that without Shia' involvement this film would probably be seen by almost nobody, especially with a solid dead of time passed. It basically shows us the everyday life of a film critic, his personal as well as professional struggles. I would say that overall the script was not good for this one, but the biggest problem were the performances in my opinion. Pretty much everybody (not just the lead actor) in this brief movie went so much over the top that I never had the impression I was watching real authentic characters, but almost always actors giving style-over-substance performances. I sometimes like Labeaouf as an actor, but here the overall outcome of his work behind the camera is very much on the disappointing side. I do not recommend checking it out.
