Season 8, Episode 4
10/10
Action packed episode.

Warning: Spoilers
I don't give out points for easily, but this episode deserves a ten in my opinion. The acting and action were superb, and this is the highest ranking I have given any episode so far.

King Ezekiel awoke from the battle last week to see all his men were dead and bodies and limbs strewn about like a meat market. In his grief, some of the bodies started to awaken to become zombies and thus attack him. The element of fear and need to get out of there became very clear to the king, except he had little ammo and his leg was injured. It was at that point the unexpected happened: one of Negan's men took him hostage and was going to return him to the sanctuary.

The next few scenes saw the king stripped of his rank so to speak by Negan's toad who mocked him and told he was no king, but just some guy. What is sad is that the king listened to him. The man and the king arrived at a gate they could not get through, it is at that point the king put up a gallant fight to overtake Negan's thug, but failed.

Enter Jerry just in the nick of time with a large ax and chops Negan's thug in half, but they were still stuck at the gate and could not get through and had an oncoming zombie herd. Jerry called King Ezekiel your majesty, but the king told Jerry he did not need to call him king, but Jerry said: yes...I do!

Carol was at the same time having her own action with Negan's other forces trying to get a cache of weapons to use. Carol got through this unscathed, but only because of the stupidity of Negan's men. They shot into the car she hid behind and not below the car so some of the bullets could get through. This was completely action packed and the action was believable and good.

She happen to see Ezekiel and Jerry at the gate battling the zombies as she was fighting Negan's men. In essence, she made a choice to save her friends versus trying to stop Negan's men with the cache of weapons. Good for Carol!

To start summing up: Rick and Daryl stopped the men who got away with the cache of weapons, and the king, Carol, and Jerry got away with the zombie herd hot on their trail, but tragedy struck King Ezekiel's dear friend. His tiger died so that the king, Carol, and Jerry might get away. The king's anguish was inconsolable. The last scene sees the king walking dejectedly into his home compound without their brothers, fathers, sisters, and mothers. Jerry and Carol followed closely behind.

We may see the king renounce his kingship, but that would be sad. He told Jerry he was no king (as Negan's man told him), but he helped keep the people alive and gave them hope. I hope this is not the end of King Ezekiel. Jerry deserves to be a knight. If they continue the kingdom, then they may as well have all the pageantry.

The action, drama, and pathos was intense. I gladly give this episode a 10.
