So, a week removed from my rant of the people who hate this show because it lacks the drama from the first two seasons, we get an episode reminiscent of those seasons while still maintaining the presence of All Out War. Does it do a good job of blending those elements together? Short answer? Yes. In fact, this episode did better than I thought it would be. We saw the inevitable fight between Rick and Daryl over how to win this war, Negan's lieutenants arguing over not only how to clear the Sanctuary but also how to appease the workers who clearly outnumber the rank and file, and a surprisingly deep moment between Negan and Gabriel all wrapped up in 75 minutes. While there are some moments I question, the helicopter flying over Rick, Negan apparently being healed up in what couldn't have been more than a few hours, and the abrupt ending that leads me to wonder whether Gabriel is bit or dehydrated, it doesn't bring the experience of the episode down as much as last week did.
This what I want to see in TWD. Not what Some Guy was.
