The Twilight Zone: Escape Clause (1959)
Season 1, Episode 6
9/10
Great, but could have been even better
2 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was actually one of the plots that was described by Rod Serling himself when promoting this show. He didn't even himself reveal what eventually happened in the end. I think this episode had problems with pacing. Here, we have a guy who makes a deal with the Devil for immortality. This takes up half the episode. I wish we could have seen more of him adjusting to his life.

It turns out to be a curse as now he's simply bored of being immortal. He accidentally kills his wife and is faced with life imprisonment. He remembers the title escape clause where the Devil will let him die if he wishes to. I notice there was a 4th of July poster in the train scene. That's the most appropriate explanation we'll get for the Syfy channel to air marathons on the fourth of July! I did end up feeling sorry for this guy. ***1/2
