Arrested Development: Visiting Ours (2003)
Season 1, Episode 6

A Lot to Digest!

This episode, "Visiting Ours," is the fifth episode of the first season of Arrested Development. Or maybe it is the sixth? Between the fifth and sixth episodes of the first season, we see that 20th Century Fox sometimes broadcasted the episodes out of order as is the case here. That being said, I really enjoyed this episode. Each episode is jam-packed with material so I feel these episodes are important by who we meet in each episode. Here, we meet Kitty Sanchez (played incredibly well by Judy Greer). She is George Sr.'s secretary....and apparently she had some kind of extracirricular activities going on with him. She looks attractive on the outside, but somehow seems to turn into a very ugly person without her glasses (part of the joke....but man those eyes are freaky!). This episode is also home to one of the best phrases of the series, "Daddy horny, Michael," where George Sr. admits he misses the touch of a woman. Jeffrey Tambor has great comedic instincts and he really displayed them here. I could not stop laughing at George Sr's actions/lines.

In this episode, Michael decides to set up a conjugal meeting between Lucille and George Sr for the first time since George Sr has been inside. Meanwhile, Lucille is struggling without the finances of her company. At the country club, she has been downgraded to pool privileges only. Also, Michael enlists GOB to seduce Kitty Sanchez, so he can gather information about the company's international accounts. Also, Tobias and Lindsay undertake marriage counseling sessions with Dr. Gunty (played by David Cross's good friend Bob Odenkirk).

This episode is quite funny, but it does not entirely hit every mark. It was nice to see Cross and Odenkirk reunite, but I wasn't impressed with the marriage counseling as I wanted to be. I rather enjoyed everything else that happened in the episode. In addition to Kitty Sanchez, the episode almost makes first mentions of Tobia's never nude, George Sr's brother Oscar (who has all the hair), and the whole story with Iraq. The episode is clever and funny, thanks to the lovely addition of Judy Greer as Kitty Sanchez.

My Grade: B+
