Warning: Spoilers
Excellent anime to watch with English subs with Tony Oliver as Rick Hunter (Hikaru, Ichijô) in my 1st-2nd teen years 1st broadcast in the U.S. & still worthy of 8-9 *'s (from point of 1st watching in '84 -'85 animation was split among several shops so there are scenes where blips will change the looks of the Valkerie's & then back in the next scene. Also, just t mo much is not just mistranslated but completely changed from the original vesion. Now as for the English Dub's listed hear, it must be one of the several re-edit's done mid to late 2000's & I can not say for certainty that I've watched it with the new voice actors of the past 15-20 years of hit anime's. Maybe as it lists only 36 eps instead of all 85 for the 84-85 US version, they may have stayed truer to the original (probably not but), hopefully so. No matter what, you must watch the original Japanese version to get the true story as it was written before Harmony Gold usurping the rights to the main charactes screwed up tbe plot so much & then screwed the world on decent sequels with those characters leaving the creators to have to expand on other plots. Spoiler: Music is a weapon against the giants (Zentraedi) but unfortunately it seems tgat with each new creation of another enemy in later creations they insist on using music still as the all empowering weapon. That was the one thing Harmony Gold with Carl Macek did do right when they incorporated Southern Cross (1984) & Genesis Climber Mospeada (1983) into the series to make it past the mandatory 65 eps required for afternoon syndication in the US in the 80's & they at least did not rely on music as a weapon past ep 36 but they did screw up the main ambition of the Zentraedi & their Masters (Robotech Masters - U.S. version).
