Even though I prefer Marvel movies, I think DC has the upper hand when it comes to television shows, and this show is no exception. I remember the old version of the DC Super Hero Girls toyline and web show, and while I didn't think it was bad, I thought it was confusing because Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy were heroes, not villains.
This show is developed by Lauren Faust (MLP, PPG, Foster's Home), and takes inspiration from her Super Best Friends Forever project. I must say, this show is a lot of fun.
The show's way of inserting DC heroes into highschool is really interesting. For example, Livewire and Giganta are the school bullies, Lois Lane is the school news reporter, etc.
I enjoy the personalities of the Super Hero Girls. Wonder Woman is the smart leader who doesn't understand how Earth works, and is supportive with a strong sense of justice. Zatanna has a flair for the dramatic and loves fashion, but isn't stereotypical. Batgirl is hyper and enthusiastic. Supergirl strives to be superior to Superman and is athletic. Green Lantern is a hippie. Bumblebee is my favorite, as she is sweet and shy. The characters are also similar to MLP for example Bumblebee = Fluttershy
It's *mostly* faithful to the DC lore (Jessica Cruz/Green Lantern's backstory was changed due to being too depressing), and while it's a comedy, it also has a lot of well animated fight scenes, accompanied with a great rock soundtrack. It provides good morals on friendship and teamwork, and deals with issues such as school bullying. DC Super Hero Girls (2019) is a very fun series and the most underrated Cartoon Network show on right now.
