Review of Bonds

The Walking Dead: Bonds (2019)
Season 10, Episode 6
8/10
Beta With Benefits
12 November 2019
In the past I have complained about some of the filler TWD episodes, but of late, they have handled them significantly better. Not that this week was necessarily filler, but it was certainly slower, further exemplifying the "Cold War" feel of the show that Angela Kang has said to the audience over the last few months. Plus, I will take a Carol/Daryl team up episode any chance I get.

And seeing her actually try and pry information out of Daryl about his feelings for Connie was interesting as we haven't (really ever) seen Daryl discuss his romantic interests. And that's why I love he stuck to his guns and brushed it off....for now.

Another team up was the endlessly funny Negan/Beta dynamic. Sure, they played on some familiar tropes we have seen, but there's nothing like letting Negan loose a bit and getting to see more of Beta's psyche. But what really is Negan's plan? I mean, we all know he doesn't really want me to be a Whisperer, right? At the very least because he cares for Judith, if for nobody else, and he wouldn't do that to her. But is he there on his own merits, or is there more to be revealed about his escape after all?

Eugene got in contact with someone & a sickness went around Alexandria was how the episode was rounded out. I still don't know how I feel about Siddiq's nightmares/PTSD considering he hasn't necessarily wowed me performance wise yet, but that's not to say it can't change. I also appreciated the different aspect that Eugene's arc brought to the episode, when was the last time he got his own episode arc, anyway?

8.7/10
