Better than "Santa Claus vs the Martians"
30 December 2019
I appreciated the other reviews and watched to see how bad it was. It was enjoyable. The photography was exceptional; the settings elegant; the set design excellent and the costumes exquiste. The characters were intriguing but the plot was mystifying. I got that they moved around in time but not how that worked and what they were trying to accomplish - maybe it would have helped to have seen the prequel.

I was okay with the device for transporting to different times, the cell phone working in the 1600s and everyone speaking the same language (that's what the subtitles indicated ;) but didn't care for the violence and there is no way they could have driven past the Forbidden City that fast. Have you been on that street? Traffic moves slower than pedestrians.

I liked this astwell as the Ipman films and it was better than the Chinese police movies. Reviewers saying this was the worst movie they ever saw but they probably have not seen "Santa Claus vs the Martians" nor Adam Sandler's "The Waterboy".
