Time Travel, Love, and an Inept Military

Warning: Spoilers
I recently read a review of a movie in which the reviewer said, "If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all." I couldn't have disagreed with that take more. It was laughably obtuse. The very purpose of a review is to let people know if you like or DISLIKE a movie, product, etc.

Staying with that theme, sometimes we watch movies and we have complaints. Many times the complaints are rooted in the actions of the characters. If an action is bone-headed or illogical, we as viewers complain. Like the scary movies when a person doesn't run, or lays down their weapon near the killer, or so many scary movie tropes.

The Philadelphia Experiment had its illogical actions. Of course, they were to advance the plot but they were dumb nonetheless.

Consider this: you work for the Navy and you've volunteered for an experiment to cloak your ship (I know Navy stands for Never Again Volunteer Yourself). The experiment goes horribly wrong and you end up 40 years in the future. That's what happened to David Herdeg (Michael Paré). My first goal would be to get back to my own time period.

David figured that running from the military was the safest thing to do. The very same military that he served in. And I don't know if his accomplice, Allison (Nancy Allen), was some type of anti-government/anti-military radical or if she was hypnotized by David's rugged good looks, but she opted to help this perfect stranger escape as opposed to turning him over to the military. I don't believe the military is saintly, but I also don't want to be on their hit list. In any case, her actions were even more irrational than David's.

Eventually he made his way back to the military after their several inept attempts to capture him. It's a wonder the U.S. is still a functioning independent nation they are characterized so poorly in movies and T.V. But we always have at least one good soldier and eventually David was that one. He destroyed the generator in 1943 and hopped back to 1984 to be with his new found love.
