Review of Hyperion Bay

Hyperion Bay (1998–1999)
5/10
The « adult » pendant of Dawson's Creek.

Warning: Spoilers
Had Dylan Neal not been already a regular in it, the show would've probably become its spin off series by association. It had the same flavor, dynamics and music. And maybe then it would've lasted longer, with the help of it « little brother » popularity. Only it clearly didn't, in fact WB stopped believing in it, after the show was actually becoming interesting (episodes 6, 7 and 8) and something to look forward to, each « weeks ». Carmen Electra, though, was not it. The show was already a full blown soap opera, after the Trudy character did a 180, at the end of episode 2. She was clearly in to wreck havoc which, behind her small town girl attitude, and friendly ways, turned her into the « bad girl » of the show. Show that would've probably become a kind of Dynasty of late 90s... They even killed off one character the same way Dynasty did, in its first year. Maybe the audience wasn't ready for this, and who knows, maybe the storylines would be more appealing now that the characters are in their 40s... A revival maybe?
