4 Oscar Winners: Hayward, Harrison, Robertson and Smith in Mankiewicz's Fine UA Film
10 April 2020
Director Joseph Mankiewicz cast 4 Oscar winners in the droll comedy set in Venice. Susan Hayward was cast and filmed her scenes when her Husband fell ill. Susan Hayward had to divide her time between Florida and Italy to complete her scenes.

Rex Harrison in his book was most impressed bt Susan Hayward's professionalism dealing with her husband's ill heath and death during the filming of the Honey Pot

The Honey Pot marks the final film as Susan Hayward as a superstar. Susan lost interest in her career with the death of her husband. What would follow would be replacements for Judy Garland in Valley Of The Dolls where she steals the movie from Barbara Perkins, Patty Duke and the tragic Sharon Tate., and a cameo in William Holden's The Revengers which was directed by Ms. Hayward's close friend and fvorite Director Daniel Mann.

Maggie Smith plays Susan Hayward's traveling companion, and also cast is Cliff Robertson and the story revolves around Rex Harrison. Also cast Capucine and Edie Adams. All the players are first rate.

There is a murder among them and I won't give away who is murdured. it would ruin the picture.

UA forced Joe Mankiewicz to cut Honey Pot and one very important sequence with Rex Harrison and Susan Hayward. I wish I could see that "dream sequence" as it was referred to.
