Tiresome comic vehicle
6 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Seemingly every film comedian had at least one outing which saw them jet off to exotic surrounds to contend with foreign beasts and natives and the like; this time around it's the turn of Toto, the scrawny Italian comic who never took off outside of his own country. TWO HEARTS AMONG THE BEASTS is a cheap and tiresome affair, complete with plenty of stereotypes and witless humour which makes it a chore to sit through. Compare this to even the work being put out by the likes of Laurel and Hardy during the era - even though they were no longer in their prime - and you'll see a world of difference.
