Great Series! Just Bought The Collection To Relive Old Memories!
20 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
To start with, this series began the year I was born. So, my memories of watching it on the TV begin with the 3rd or 4th season. It was always a favorite watch for the family and we waited with anticipation each week for it. Those were the days before video recorders and disc players. So, if you missed the broadcast, you missed it. I recently purchased the series to relive the old memories. And, I can honestly say that Seasons 1-7 are still just as relevant and enjoyable today as they were back then. The series began to go downhill after the 7th season and the later episodes are very 'hit or miss' (mostly misses). Kam Fong (Chin Ho Kelly) left at the end of season 10. Reading the literature that came along with the set I purchased, he had become tired of the series and wanted to move on to other things. His character was murdered while working undercover in Chinatown during the last episode that season. And, James MacArthur (Danno) left in Season 11. Season 12 should never have been made. You could tell the series was on life support by then. The stories weren't as relevant and the acting wasn't as good. And, the plots were becoming increasingly politically correct (rare for those days). My advice: Stick to watching the first 7 Seasons.
