The Eternal Mother review
26 June 2020
A straight role for comedienne Mabel Normand in this restrained drama from D. W. Griffith. She's the ill-fated other woman ("restless and thoughtless" states the intertitle with prim understatement) who pries Edwin August away from his loving wife, Blanche Sweet. The price August pays for this indiscretion is a long and lonely one. Good performances from the principals lift this one.
