This episode was so great it felt like a finale. While it all seems like it's going Dexter's way, in the very end Doakes manages to finally capture Dexter in the actual act of killing. But he's also committed some boneheaded moves that disallow him from looking totally innocent.
And to respond to the criticism Dexter "is a soap opera" you either like thrillers or you don't. By no means is it realistic or trying to be remotely like a show along the lines of The Wire. Enjoy some action for once.
