Review of Saw V

Saw V (2008)
7/10
A perfect way to tie up loose ends
17 August 2020
This is my next favourite Saw after the 1st movie in the series. To provide context:

1. I like how it referenced the previous movies (using flashbacks), and tied up the loose ends i.e. a lot that was previously ambiguous - now made sense. You can tell that the writers really put thought into how to link everything together.

2. I liked the nature of the game. It was interesting; and it was a twist on the other formats. It was well thought through. The game didn't seem overly "unfair" like the last few movies (so there was some form of hope), which made it more engaging & in line with the general theme of Saw.

3. The pacing & overall flow was great. In particular - the game was well integrated in the rest of the episode. I didn't feel that I solely wanted to watch the game (which is how I felt in the previous movie), because the story outside of the game was equally as interesting.

4. The quality of the scenes were really gruesome which is in line with the nature of this movie. It was done well.

Overall - such an engaging episode.
