Black Cloud is a famous war owned by Chief Lame Bear. A St Louis Wild West show operator offers hide hunter Matt Madrigo $5000 to buy the horse from Lame Bear for another $5000. But scummy Madrigo plans to steal the war horse and keep all the money for himself and his henchmen. The Ranger and Tonto warn him to stay off Indian land but Madrigo pays no attention. They steal the war horse and kidnap the chief's son as a hostage. It looks like a big Indian war is in the offing. The Ranger and Tonto try to get help from the cavalry but the lieutenant who talks to Madrigo gets completely bamboozled. It will be up the Ranger and Tonto to recover the stolen horse, capture Madrigo and his men, and stop an Indian war. That's a tall order, even for the Masked Rider of the Plains! Lame Bear (Chief Yowlatchie) becomes the first Indian to ask the famous question, "What him name?"
