Review of The Lie

The Lie (2018)
1/10
Predictable "Twist" Ending, Poor Writing, Unlikeable Unbelievable Characters
10 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not a thriller. Dull, and a waste of time. Stay far away.

You can see the supposed twist from the start, that the girlfriend faked her death. Very poor writing. On top of that, the girlfriend flirts with the father, yet nothing is done to follow up on that aspect of the story. That's poor writing plus poor directing.

None of the characters are remotely likeable or believable. The daughter is whiny, mopey, self absorbed, and selfish. The parents are gullible, their actions unconvincing. You want to slap all three. And then you want to slap the film makers for wasting your time.
