Someone is trying to drive Dave Tucker off his ranch. He bought it from Emmy Bryson, whom he calls "the finest woman in the state." But if Dave doesn't make his next mortgage payment, Emmy can foreclose. The Ranger and Tonto decide to help Dave. The Ranger quickly realizes that there is oil on Dave's land. He tells banker Rufe Barton about this oil, and Barton agrees to lend Dave the money for the mortgage payment. But then Barton is murdered and suspicion falls on the Ranger, Tonto, and Dave. Miss Emmy may not be what she seems. Character actor Byron Foulger plays banker Rufe Barton. He and wife Dorothy Adams were the parents of soap opera superstar Rachel Ames.
