Red Randall has a foolproof scheme to rob the express messenger. He has his pal Lefty Hayes dye his hair red and break a window in town, then flee before anyone gets a good look at his face. Red is murdering the messenger at the same time. Red then murders Lefty and hides the money. He turns himself in to the sheriff for breaking the window and gets five days in jail. Outlaw Beef Corson is in the next cell. The Ranger has a plan for Tonto to get arrested and tell Red there is a gold strike in the area where the money is hidden. That will induce Red to break out of jail and lead them to the money. But Corson recognizes Tonto as The Ranger's companion. It's a dangerous situation and The Ranger and Tonto may fall into their own trap! Reliable Jim Bannon plays Red Randall and makes the first of his five LR appearances. He had a very distinctive deep voice and was married to Bea Benaderet from 1938-1950. Their son Jack Bannon (Lou Grant) was also an actor.
