Singham is good movie, a decent entertainer. There are flaws which are not negligible like action scenes, kavya father being a comedy part seems irrational, never liked it. Some scenes doesn't lie parallel to the movie's theme esp some funny scenes. The controversial seriousness of the movie is worthy of watch ie Jaykant shikre. Yes, he is the show stealer. The emotions, dialogs and excitement in his villainous attitude is a must watch, funny and gripping at the same time, more gripping than Ajay Devgan. In the climax his performance is applaudable, though sarcastically funny. Praksh Raj is just superb in Singham.
I don't remember any Singham statement but almost all of Jaykant Sikre. 'Apna post ka solid akar hai na tereko .........' 'Kya majak hai, kya halwa hu.....? Jaykant Sikre hu' '200 km akar 440 volt ka shock laga..... ' etc are outstanding performance of Prakash Sir, implying the comedy fused horrific trait of the antagony. Jaykant shikre is the bright spot in it, not to be missed. He is like an artist, who deflected from his own path, turned frustrated but still his artistic attitude appears sometimes, adding a unique taste to most common villains generally seen in screen.
The story is a simple police criminal issue, confronting each other at different places and time with various strategies, ultimately leading to Singham's victory.
But this victory is not like protagony's way ie Singham ultimately lied to the world about Jaykant's end. It showed that the protagonist role being a little inferior, very unlike of a true policeman if we remember Om puri of Ardh Satya. The movie's attempt to portray police as the righteous unit turned sour towards the end. In short it ultimately proved the law keepers are corrupt, as if influenced by Jaykant.
I think the antagonistic theme is stronger in Singham, as evident from the climax. Such is the motivation of Rohit Shetty, he made a pessimistic film very cleverly mixed with action Romance and funny themes to hide that issue. Well taking Singham seriously, this is the opinion. But from entertaining masala view, its a good entertainer, esp Prakash Raj. A 55/00.
