What a highly disrespectful and thoughtless film. 1) By not hiring an actor who's on the spectrum, you show you don't actually care about the subject matter, it's all for show. 2) The representation is extremely offensive, a caricature of what those without autism or who never truly encountered autism think it's like. 3) Sia claims she spent "3 yrs researching autism?" That's overwhelmingly a lie, or she focused her research on the non-autistic family members. 4) If this was made for people on the spectrum (which it's decidedly not), them she should not have put the stobing lights in the film since many on the spectrum experience seizures. I can't talk about this anymore, the amount of anger I feel is overwhelming. She should be ashamed of herself and the fact that she's not is highly disturbing to me.
