Jean Gabin is as good as he can be. The opening scene in the car is great. However, the film does not follow a regular pace. It gets slow and boring at times. And also character development is poor except Jean and Panama. The musical score and those port shots are memorable. For me, one the best scenes is where Jean eats saucisson and hits on Nelly at the same time.
