The godfather of B's
31 March 2021
This is the typical B from the 70's, its a bit like a Vincent Price horror but more exploitative and a bit more comical. It was impossible not to forward through many of the movies more boring parts as it does seem to stretch for a movie with such a straight forward story. Are we meant to feel for Dracula? Poor draccy, all he wanted was a virgin or two to eat.

It's a surprise Dracula lasted till the end of the movie he was literally cut and paste Inspec. Jacques Clouseau or Gadget into a Dracula's outfit. Far more of a comedy than a horror. The sex is far more than you get in today's movies which is why so many people class this as soft-core porn which I have to disagree with. What it is is a classic Italian exploitative movie from the early seventies and nicely made unlike so many others.

The scenery adds a lot to the arty feel of the movie that's meant to help cover its sleazy underbelly. Despite all of this its hard not to like it as I found the slightly gory ending gave me a good belly laugh. In other words its too good to rate it less.
