Fine Tribute to an Under Appreciated Musician
13 April 2021
Its unclear if the story actually happened the way it did in the film or whether its fictional enhancement. The 1991 tribute concert did happen, but I would guess that the romance was tacked on. Regardless, its a compelling story of a son coming to terms with his late father who had basically abandoned him as a young child.

The music is top rate. I wonder if the actors and musicians gave a full concert and I would love to own a recording. I can't find recordings from the 1991 tribute.

Penn Badgley is outstanding in this role, not only bearing close resemblance to the real Jeff Buckley but possessing outstanding musicianship in his own right. He was born to play that role. Unfortunately the actor portraying Tim Buckley was not believable both in appearance and voice.

This is an obscure little film that very few will ever see, and its a shame. Tim Buckley was one of the very best singer songwriters of the 1960s and 70s, even of only a small number of people know it.
