But taking the genre in which the creators filmed this story, I want to say that they succeeded - a high-quality embodiment of the plot. And it is in this genre and in no other. If the director had made a bet not on the investigation, but on the crimes themselves, as many viewers craved, it would have turned out a completely different movie, more terrible than any Hollywood horror. And it's a good thing that didn't happen.
As for the game of Dmitry Nagiyev - this is one of his best reincarnations (something even reminded him of his character from "Careful, Modern"). Of course, it is noticeable that the image was made as pathetic as possible, different from the same criminal even from the photos. In artistic terms, this does not cause outrage, because we are talking here, to put it mildly, far from an outstanding person.
The fact that there will be a second season, the guess came only in the last episode. It seems to me that according to the documentary sources, the senior lieutenant did not ring his doorbell... And the search will continue in season 2.
