More style than substance
7 May 2021
This anime is the directorial debut of Michael Arias, who previously had made a name for himself in the VFX department, working with studio Ghibli to find a good way to combine traditional animation and computer graphics and producing the collection of shorts "Animatrix". A little of all these can be seen here, with a movie that tries to be spectacular and a technical achievement from the first minute and that has amazing animation and isolated sequences, but it's also very pretentious and lacks focus and a solid script.
