Being a fan of Roman history (and of I, Claudius), I came to this series more out of hope than expectation. But, once I got to episode 3 and the show go into its stride, I was gripped. It's pretty accurate with the history and shows the end of the Roman Republic not as some CinemaScope epic but, essentially, as a family affair.
I can't wait for a second season (I hope there is one).
