Blimey! 'Twas the struth, mate!

An Aussie film like none before it! No bogans, at least not in main roles, no battler giving it to the Man, nor a Sheila acting all out of sorts in this recreation of an event I actually lived through as an 8 year old. Even as a young fella I thought they were guilty! It was just the way they came across in the media! Rich, snobbish, sour, heartless, and unashamed: just like Meryl played her! A fascinating story, even if the 80's bad taste is felt throughout! The editing: cutting away for a second's glimpse at the public's perception; leaves a lot to be desired. But the cameos of now-famous actors makes up for its blunders. Titled "A Cry in the Dark" here in Australia, and less suitably "Evil Angels" elsewhere, the Cry title doesn't persuade you into a good vs evil mindset before viewing. A story that shocked the nation turned into a shocking film- that it happened in my backyard may have clouded my judgement of her...them...I mean, it! Hmmm.
