I grew up during the 1960s and yes, we did have black friends. The little girls who play ME and Rene in the earlier seasons are much better than the later actresses. The character of ME drives me crazy as she's not capable of listening to an opposing viewpoint. It's basically her way of the highway. I do like the character of Rene but her idealism is a bit far fetched at times. Other than that, it's a good show worthy of airing. I don't care for the extra preachy episodes.
