In the fine book of stories on which this series is based, Tommy and Tuppence are presented as being very young: in their early 20's, perhaps their mid-20's at most. Much of the charm of the stories comes from their youth.
When this series began filming, James Warwick was about 36; Francesca Annis, 38. I think they were both too old for the roles. This is the sort of casting mistake all too often made in America: Get so and so, they're a name! I regret seeing it in a UK series.
