Generally speaking, sequels are always going to be worse than the original, this was sadly no exception. The first Crank was a weird (in a good way) action/comedy - it was something that grew on you halfway through a viewing of it. I was used to run-of-the-mill action with a tinge of slapstick, but Crank was a new animal, and it paid off.
This follow up was funny, yes, and even had moments of dying-for-air laughter, but fundamentally it's inferior to the first. They took the wackiness to a whole new level, and perhaps even went a little overboard with it. It ultimately buried the sense of loose realism that the first had in favor of pure campy toilet humor. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but I did find myself a little bored in some parts, and found it to be too stupid.
