A TV cameraman named Harry (Jack Lemmon) is accidentally wounded by a player while a football game from the sidelines . His brother-in-law (Walter Matthaw) sees this as an ideal attempt to make some law-suit money . After receiving a minor injury Harry is convinced by his brother-in-law Matthaw to begin an expansive lawsuit . Harry's similarly-minded ex-wife (Judi West) suddenly reappear and attempts to rekindle their relationship . Along the way , the good-natured football player (Ron Rich) who hit Harry fights with the outcome of his actions . Some people will do anything for money ! Why was she planted in Harry Hinkle's bedroom? Is he a spy? A security risk? Is he unfaithful? Or is he a nice, normal shnook - out to make a million bucks by sheer accident! Dough is the most important ingredient in...How Harry Hinkle became a fortune cookie . Some people will do anything for $249,000.92.

So begins the first of the usually wonderful and delightful collaborations between Lemmon and Matthaw . As Jack Lemmon is perfect as the reporter receiving a minor injury during a football game who's is convinced by his relative and Walter Matthew is terrific at his scene- stealing best as the seedy advocate in law to exaggerate his wound . Magnificent direction render this excellently told story more funny than usual . One of Wilder's most inventive and furious screen combats in which Lemmon and Matthau are given equal footing with staccato dialog and marvelous interpretations . As phenomenal acting from everyone , including a top-notch secondary cast , such as : Ron Rich , Judi West , Cliff Osmond, Lurene Tuttle , among others . I. A. L. Diamond's brilliantly tart screenplay overlaps dialogue and scenes to carry the amusing farce along the roller-coasted speed . Certainly the kind of movie that Billy Wilder only can make , and it achieved success enough . Meanwhile , do't miss this stunning adaptation.

This Oscar-winning comedy was competently directed by Billy Wilder . Hree Billy Wilder teams up again with his usual screenwriter , regular collaborator I .A .L. Diamond who got dizzy heights from iSabrina and The Apartment to his inferior film Buddy Buddy , Billy Wilder's last film feature , compared to their masterpieces . Wilder ferquently cast Marilyn Monroe, William Holden, Jack Lemmon and Fred MacMurray. Wilder directed Jack Lemmon in seven movies: The Apartment (1960), Avanti! ? (1972), Buddy , Buddy (1981), Fortune Cookie (1966), Front Page (1974), Irma la Douce (1963) and Some Like It Hot (1959). Being throughout a long career getting a lot of successes both , as writer and director , as he made the following prestigious flicks : "Double indemnity" , "Fortune Cookie" , "Lost Weekend" , "Spirit of St Louis" , "Love in the Afternoon" , "Some like hot" , "Sunset Boulevard" , "Witness for prosecution" , "Stalag 17" , "Seven Year Itch" , "One Two Three" , "Irma La Douce" , "Apartment" , "Fedora" , "The Private life of Sherlock Holmes" , among others. The yarn will appeal to Walter Matthaw and Jack Lemmon fans .
