Review of Anatomy

Anatomy (2000)
7/10
Some decent stuff but a little skittish in tone
5 October 2021
'Anatomy' popped up on Netflix the other day and so I decided to give it a go. I usually enjoy European films when I give them a chance. The plot of this movie is actually pretty messed up. It's very dark. And yet the film often has quite a light tone in contrast. An upbeat song will play after a really disturbing scene has just been on. And things will happen to characters that should really disturb them, yet they'll be very jovial in the next scene.

The film is not trying to scare you, so much as it disturb you. There are some tense sequences near the end that were used quite effectively however to keep you on the edge of your seat. The tone of the film never really settles on anything. It was as if they were having a hard time deciding exactly which type of a film they wanted to be.

As far as Netflix films goes it's worth a look if you come across it. It's probably not worthy of going out of your way to track it down however (should you be the one person in the world who doesn't have a Netflix account). Not bad, but a little forgettable. 7/10.
