I took a punt, and ordered a dvd from Spain, made many, many years ago, I knew full well that this was a pretty divisive film.
I have to be honest, I enjoyed it, of course it's very dated, but that's part of the charm of it. It's actually nicely made, with great costumes, hair and make up etc, of course the blood looks like raspberry jam.
It's somewhat tongue in cheek, some of the events, particularly the killing spree, and ending are all a little over the top, but there's enough here to keep you entertained.
I liked the ambiguity of it, the ending is a little vague, but leaves you having to wonder what was going on, were events all you've seen, or was there a deal of insanity at play?
Why no UK dvd? That makes no sense.
It's a forgotten gem, even if it perhaps doesn't shine very brightly against some of the great horrors from the time.
