Warning: Spoilers
If you were expecting RED (Retired and Extremely Dangerous) then you picked the wrong movie. This Red is about a dog named Red and what his owner did after he was killed.

Before John Wick's dog was shot Avery Ludlow's dog was shot by one spoiled, disturbed, hormonal, raging teenager. Personally, I prefer the manner in which John Wick handled things, but this is a different kind of movie. Avery Ludlow (Brian Cox) shuffled around and mumbled about apologies and justice as though he was in an Andy Warhol created world where everyone does the right thing. Unfortunately for him--this walking anachronism--he was dealing with people who didn't quite share the same values, so that "apology" and that "justice" would not be forthcoming. In fact, Ludlow's plodding, simple, naive way of trying to get justice only made it worse for himself.

The whole modern day Hatfield and McCoys routine ended up with dead bodies and blood everywhere. That was probably inevitable but boy did it take one slow, circuitous, countrified way to get there.
