The many high ratings for this series tells me that most viewers aren't familiar with Greek mythology and now believe themselves to be informed. What I found here is more of a tongue-in-cheek delivery using present-day definitions and descriptions of ancient words and places. I thought perhaps it was aimed at youth with its attempts to sound mocking and use modern verbal imagery. But while some does accurately follow a myth, the retelling here borders on offensive. The animation is trivial. It's true, many of the best films gloss over the more gruesome or shocking aspects, but this series offers them up in trite short sentences, and the pace doesn't allow for any of the nuance of true mythology.
